Unit 1- Friendship

 

      In this unit, we studied
  • should and shouldn't
  • suggestions
  • adjectives
  • new words about friendship
      So, let's revise them (tekrar edelim).


SHOULD & SHOULDN'T(-meli/-malı)

We use "should" to give advices. (Tavsiye için kullanırız.)

 ⇒ You should study maths. (Matematik dersine çalışmalısın.)
  ⇒ A good friend should be supportive. (İyi bir arkadaş destekleyici olmalıdır.)
  ⇒ We should stay at home. (Evde kalmalıyız.)

ACCEPTING(Kabul Etme)


Yapılan bir teklifi kabul etmek için aşağıdaki kalıplar kullanılabilir.



  • Yes, please.                        
  • Yeah, I’d love to. 
  • That’s a good idea. 
  • That sounds awesome/great/excellent/fantastic.
  • Yeah, that’s great. 
  • That sounds fun. 
  • That would be great. 
  • Why not? 
  • Well, I can’t refuse your invitation. 


REFUSING(Reddetme)


Yapılan bir teklifi reddetmek için ise şu kalıplardan faydalanabiliriz.



  • No, thanks. 
  • No, thank you. 
  • I’m sorry, but I can’t. 
  • I’m afraid, but I can’t. 
  • That is not a good idea. 
  • I can’t accept your invitation. 

GIVING REASONS(Neden Bildirme)

Eğer bir teklifi geri çevirdiysek, bir mazeret (excuse) belirtmemiz uygun olur. Bunun için kullanabileceğimiz örnek ifadeler şöyle:

  • I’m too busy. 
  • I must finish my homework. 
  • I must study for my English exam. 
  • My aunt is visiting me on Tuesday. 
  • I am going on vacation/holiday. 
  • I am going to visit my grandparents.

ADJECTIVES

Sınavda kelimelerin karşılığı olan açıklama cümleleri de kullanabildiği için İngilizce anlamlarına göz atmakta fayda var.

GOOD PERSONAL TRAITS (İyi kişilik özellikleri) ●Honest  ➔ never tells lie / always tells the truth. • Reliable  ➔ keeps friends’ secrets / never shares friends’ secrets with others. • Generous  ➔ shares his money or furniture with people, helps others. • Adventurous  ➔ enjoys difficult and exciting activities. • Amusing  ➔ makes people happy/ funny/ makes people laugh/smile. • Determined ➔ never changes his mind and tries hard to be successful. • Caring / tactful ➔ thinks others / tries to help people.  • Supportive /helpful  ➔ gives encouragement / backs up people/helps.  • Loyal   ➔ never changes his/her friendship with to support for a person or an organization.


BAD PERSONAL TRAITS (Kötü Kişilik Özellikleri)• Aggressive / Bad tempered ➔ never gets on well with people / argues with people. • Stubborn  ➔ never says “yes” easily / never changes his/her mind.• Mean   ➔ never shares his money with others/ behaves rude.• Unreliable ➔ never tells truth/ tells lies/ shares people’s secrets with others.• Arrogant ➔thinks s/he is more important than others.• Laid-back  ➔ relaxed in manner and character.• Sneaky ➔ does things in a secret.• Jealous  ➔ gets angry or sad when people are interested in another person.• Self-centered  ➔ only thinks herself or himself/ never thinks others.
